Jatropha in Vietnam

In Vietnam peoples grow Jatropha for:
-  hedges;
- Traditional medicine:  aperients ( seed, leaf), eczema( leaf), carbuncle, pityriasis ( leaf), man ngua (leaf), itching, leprocy (latex), trichomoniasis, traumatic, mouth impetigo (latex), scabies (leaf),paralysed; palsied; paralytic ,poliomyelitic,paralytic; paralysed; palsied ( root),to suffer from a sprain/wrench ( leaf + oil ),(of wound) to be chronic gaping (oil, latex),to suffer from a sprain/wrench, haemorrhage; bleeding ( latex), rheumatism(leaf), to be caught in a conscription draft, apoplexy, edema; dropsy,  leukemia
 - protect earth- banker;
- vegetables: leaf of top of tree;
- toy ( latex );
- to light; to illuminate (oil);
- crude oil, fuel, diesel.

After general view on studies on Physic nut in the World; this study recommend that Physic nut (Jatropha curcas L.) are planted in many places of Vietnam as traditional medicine and hedge: Hoa Binh, Son La, Quang Tri, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong, Dong Nai provinces and Ho Chi Minh City . From XVI century, the book of  herbalist and bonze Tue Tinh, “ Tue Tinh toan tap “ ( Tue Tinh’s complete works ) have recommend this plant as medicine tree. This tree can plant in dry and humid place and in highland 900 m above sea level, too. We have selected some high yield and non-toxic and non self- propagation varieties. This is basic for growing physic nut to pruduce bio-diesel and by-products and to cover wasteland with green, and anti-desertization, prevent eroding, sand is blown by wind. Growing physic nut is measure to eradicate hunger and alleviate poverty, too.
