Anuanom Industrial Projects, a Limited Liability Company, established in 1982 under the company laws (1963) of Ghana, proposes the Exploitation of physic nut (Jatropha curcas L.) in Ghana on commercial scale to obtain bio-diesel from the conversion of the oil from the seeds and organic fertilizer from the press-cake and the fruit compost. The Government of Ghana has already given the go ahead for the implementation of the project. The physic nut tree is at home in Ghana with the full benefits of the tropical conditions. There are enough seeds locally for the development of plantations for the production of the nuts to support the project. The enthusiasm of farmers is very high since most farmers want to take part in the programme. The Government has promised to provide any necessary assistance, since the project will create the necessary jobs for the teaming unemployed youths of the nation. The feasibility report has already been prepared based on the UNIDO's manual of standardized methodology for industrial and agricultural projects in developing countries (ONUDI) 1994. The company is therefore seeking the necessary funding to cover the pre-operation cost, plant, machinery and equipment importation cost and working capital cost to implement the project. Ghana, imports all its diesel fuel and fertilizer requirements with non-existing foreign money, therefore, there exist sufficient market for the proposed products of the project. The company intends to organize the cultivation of about 220,000 hectares of physic nut plantations in Ghana. |
