“The Ideal Plant”
The neglected and nearly unknown medicinal tree / bush (Inhlakuva in Zulu) fulfills these criteria best. Jatropha curcas is a perennial plant growing to a tree of 5 meters and produces about 1.000 l  of oil per hectare, and is demanding only 600 mm of rain. Jatropha is easy to grow, is resistant against plant disease and some frost, and is not demanding on soil. It has a year-round production cycle.
