Crude ground seeds of Jatropha sp. were found to have molluscicidal properties. In the Sudan, the LC 100 after 24 hours exposure was 2 ppm for Bulinus truncatus and 50 ppm for Biomphalaria pfeifferi. Of various extracts tested, the methanol extract was highly potent against both snails.
