Jatropha curcas seed, a multi-purpose medicinal plant product, was fed at 0.1 and 0.5 to Brown Hisex chicks for 4 w to measure its effects upon growth and the structure and function of vital organs. Liver and kidney function tests included serum SDH, GDH, GOT, total protein, potassium and other serum constituents in addition to total tissue lipids and hematology. J. curcas intoxication in chicks was characteized by growth depression, hepatonephropathies and widespread hemorrhages and congestion.
